Juicy Reboot

I’ve spent the last few days feeling a bit under the weather. Nick and my dad have both had “man-flu” over the last week, so the chances of avoiding getting sick were pretty slim. I’ve dosed myself up with some echinachea, black elderberry extract and vitamin c as well as lots of hot water with lemon and ginger and it seems to be keeping the worst of it at bay!

I just had a quick gym session yesterday as I had to do my fitness tests for Tina’s best body bootcamp program which I started this morning. I didn’t do too bad considering my cold, although my chest was really hurting during the run so I am going to try and do the interval workouts of the program later in the week!

Best Body Bootcamp Fitness Test

Lower wall Squat held 1.05 (Not amazing, not something I regularly practice doing but will aim to improve this.

39 Push-ups done in 60 secs (Pretty chuffed with this, the weight workouts I have been doing do have a lot of pushups in them so I am fairly well practised!)

Elbow Plank held for 1.18 (Not too bad, but used to be a lot better when I was doing NROLFW, will aim to plank a day to improve on this!)

41 Jump Squats in 60 secs (Again not bad, I quite like doing jump squats, just glad I didn’t pick burpees as my option ha!)

1 mile run in 8.24 (Wasn’t too displeased with this considering my cold and the chest pain, need to work on my speed to aim for my target 5k time though)

Juicy Goodness

This morning I started a juice reboot, I am taking part in Jason Vale’s Worlds biggest juice detox. It couldn’t come at a better time really as I’m feeling really poorly and I hope all the juicy goodness will make me feel better! The fridge is chock full of fresh fruit and veggies and I am looking forward to getting back to proper juicing again after being without my juicer over Christmas. I’m not looking forward to having to clean the damn thing though!

I have a day off work today so I went to the gym to do my first Best Body Bootcamp workout which was a full body strength workout. There was lots of moves that I was familiar with but which were done on the swiss ball which made it much more challenging and felt good to mix things up! After each weight circuit I did 5 mins of cycling on the stationary bike. The workout in total was around 55 minutes which was a pretty good session and I was so glad to finally be following a different program and get out of my routine!

The workout for tomorrow is a cardio interval workout but I might switch it up and do another weight session as I don’t know if my body could handle high intensity cardio right now.

My goals for this week in the program are to complete a plank a day ( I did 3 during the workout) and make a fresh juice/smoothie so I get a check on both counts! I am aiming to follow the juice detox for the full week so we shall see how that goes, I’ve done 3-5 day reboots before but this will be my longest one yet, looking forward to all that pure liquid nutrition!

Are you following any kind of fitness program right now?

What are your favourite fruit/veggies to juice?

Any other good natural cold remedies?

  1. Yummy looking juice and great job at the gym! Hope you start feeling better soon!

  2. Hope you feel better soon! And you have great numbers for the fitness test. Can’t wait to see how it improves!

  3. If you’re doing just juices how do you have the energy for your workouts? I thought that when you were doing the Ani Phyo raw cleanse – with these detoxes they only recommend light exercise. Isn’t it a bit excessive and even disordered to do them while committing to an intense exercise regime?

    • I’m juicing 6 times a day and they are packed with things like avocado, coconut milk and spirulina, so I am certainly covering all my bases nutrition wise and feel pretty full of energy so far. I didn’t plan to do the reboot and start a new exercise program at the same time but they happened to fall on the same week so I am just going to see how it goes, and if I don’t feel right then I would stop it right away and ease back onto solid foods.

  4. Great job on your fit test. I should have done jump squats too. I hate burpees. Oh well, next time.

  5. I’m just starting to follow Live Fit – well my version of it I guess! I need to get my juicer out again I just can’t seem to find the motivation! I need to get myself some yummy juice ideas – I should probably read Kris Carrs juices and smoothies ebook again!

    • I think it’s best to adapt LiveFit, that’s what I did and I found it worked great. I know what you mean, the thought of having to clean it drives me insane!

  6. I really need to get my juicer out of the box this week and start using it. I can’t wait!
