New Year Goals

I know a lot of people are kind of over resolutions-dismissing them as a waste of time and something long forgotten come mid-February. For me this year I want to focus on goals that I want to achieve and to look at it on a long term and short term basis. I want to have yearly goals and also monthly ones to keep me on track.

Christmas Day Run with my bro!

Run a sub 25 minute 5k- I’ve never run a 5k before, only 10ks, half’s and a marathon! I would like to race more over this shorter distance and see how fast I can go.

Run a sub 2 hour Half-Marathon- I was only 2 minutes outside of this last March, so I would like to have a really good training period, do lots of speed work and aim to beat the 2 hour mark.

Enjoy and complete Best Body Bootcamp- I have signed up for Tina’s Best Body Bootcamp. I feel in a bit of a rut with my strength after repeating LiveFit so I am excited to mix things up and do a new program.

Yoga at least twice a week- This is always one of my goals, and I don’t usually hit it. So this year I want to really commit to this, whether it’s a one hour class or ten minutes at home I want to try and incorporate some yoga each week.

Treat myself better both physically and mentally- I am often reluctant to take rest days, and push myself through hard workouts even though I don’t really feel like it. This year I want to look after myself a bit better, listen to my body, rest when I need it, take time out to meditate, and enjoy pampering sessions!

Practice gratitude- Not take things for granted so much and be more thankful for things. I am aiming to make gratitude lists, and write down the best parts of my day in my journal each evening.

Blog at least twice a week: I need to make more time to create content for the blog, sometimes I don’t post for weeks on end and I find it hard to get back into it. I need to commit to setting aside time each week to blog.

Budget better- I started out budgeting really well when we first moved to Dublin, but things have got a bit out of hand with buying lots or organic food and super-foods. I need to try and get a better handle on this this year.

New Recipe Books to try out!

New Recipe Books to try out!

Try at least one new “recipe”a week- Whether it’s a recipe or something I create myself, I want to try something new each week. It’s too easy to repeat the same old meals and though they are enjoyable, it’s fun to mix things up and try new things.

Getting Juicy!

Getting Juicy!

Do a Juice/Raw reboot once every season- I have done a few raw reboots over the last few months and felt really great while doing them. I will aim to do one each season, starting with a juice cleanse next week.

Read 13 books this year- A little bit random, but I want to commit to reading 13 book for 2013. I’m reading Les Mis at the moment and it’s so long it’s taking me forever, but it’s a good start to this commitment, although I started reading it last year!

  1. Love these goals and I have to say I’m a bit sick of the anti resolution crowd already! I can’t wait until my period problem is sorted as doing seasonal cleanses is something I’d really enjoy. I’d definitely like to do a raw cleanse in the summer! All the best for 2013!

    • I know, I think it’s good to have goals for the year! Eating raw is definitely a lot easier in the summer when the heat just puts you off cooked food! I’m looking forward to doing the juice reboot next week though.

  2. These are such great goals – I think it is great to make them in the New Year for focus and motivation. I’m determined to get a sub 25 min 5k this year too!
